Experience
- A professional background spanning technical, analytical, policy, and international settings.
My career has developed through roles involving research, analysis, planning, policy, coordination, and public service. Rather than presenting a detailed chronology, this page provides a broad introduction to the different kinds of work that have shaped my professional perspective.
Professional Background
The work has also provided exposure to how large organizations consider priorities, manage competing demands, and coordinate across professional and institutional boundaries. Those experiences continue to inform how I approach policy questions, writing, and collaborative work.
Areas of Experience
My professional background can be described through four broad areas.
Technical Foundations
Work involving engineering, mathematics, and technical analysis provided an early foundation for thinking about systems, evidence, uncertainty, and practical constraints.
Analysis and Policy
Subsequent roles introduced broader questions involving policy, planning, research, and the relationship between analysis and institutional decisions.
International Engagement
International work provided experience with different perspectives, priorities, professional cultures, and approaches to shared policy and security questions.
Institutional Coordination
Much of my work has involved bringing together information from different offices, disciplines, and professional communities within complex organizations
A Connecting Thread
Across these different settings, I have remained interested in how complex issues are understood, communicated, and carried into practice. That interest connects my professional work with the policy analysis and other writing presented on this website.
